About
I love sketching and painting and exhibit my work in London, Berkshire and Hampshire. My paintings are in collections in the UK, USA and Europe.
Objects we collect and treasure over a lifetime fascinate me and they find their way into my paintings. I start by sketching, for example an ornament, a flower vase, a toy, or maybe some jewellery and then include these in a painting of my garden, or a tangle of weeds or wild flowers in the countryside or a still life.
Born in East Sussex, I spent some years in London, then Oman where the light and rich colours of the women's clothes helped me appreciate the beauty of colour. I now live in the lovely countryside of Hampshire and work in oils, acrylics, watercolours, gouache, inks, charcoal and pastels - often mixing them in one painting.
I admire the work of Barbara Rae, Joan Eardley, JMW Turner, Paul Cezanne, Vincent van Gogh and Henri Matisse.
