About

Colour and movement are central to my work. I love painting landscapes of the countryside around my home and seascapes from many wonderful holidays in this country.  Recently, I have been inspired by old family photographs to paint semi-abstract works of my brother, cousins and myself as small children playing games such as Oranges and Lemons and Tag.  I found that by changing my subject matter I also changed my colour palette to pinks, reds and yellows which I find interesting and inspiring.

Born in East Sussex, I spent many years in the Middle East and now live in Hampshire.  After studying history of art I turned to painting and exhibit work in London, Berkshire and Hampshire. My paintings are in collections in the UK, USA and Europe.

My painting of the Wessex Downs was used to illustrate an article in Country Life in 2023.

During Covid I taught art online using Zoom and continue to teach to a loyal group of pupils.

I admire the work of Barbara Rae, Joan Eardley, JMW Turner, Paul Cezanne and Van Gogh.
